A senior communications specialist is required to develop a communications strategy for the Sector Skills Council in development for the creative and cultural industries. Prior to the company being granted a licence from Government and reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will be responsible for project managing the sector's first ever Employer Skills Summit (end November 2005) and Licensing Ceremony (March 2005). You will work alongside a leading brand design agency and groups of employers helping to ensure the SSC has high quality brand recognition and is respected by key opinion formers - both inside and outside the sector.

With a track record in strategic communications and creative marketing you will develop an enviable programme of employer engagement - securing for the SSC an unrivalled understanding of both employer and individual skills needs. An executive assistant is required to support the Chair and Chief Executive of the Sector Skills Council in development for the creative and cultural industries. As a start-up organisation you will be required to put in place all the necessary support systems to ensure diary schedules, meetings and correspondence are handled efficiently.

You must possess a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar setting and be proficient to a high level in all the main software packages (e.g. Outlook, Word and PowerPoint). Experience of supporting senior executives in a start-up situation would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the education and training system.

An exceptional and talented individual is required to help support the strategic leadership of the Sector Skills Council in development for creative and cultural industries.

From day one you will have to develop a comprehensive stakeholder contact programme for both the Chair and Chief Executive ensuring they are well briefed prior to meetings. You will be tasked with ensuring that actions arising from these meetings are systematically followed through by the organisation. You will also help put in place an induction programme for the new Board and advise on corporate governance matters.

A critical part of the role is to ensure a proactive approach, underpinning the full submission to Government of the SSC licence application. This will include accompanying the Chair and Chief Executive to important meetings, preparing speeches and presentations, taking accurate notes, as well as keeping sector employers and staff of the SSC fully informed of the latest developments. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, probably gained in your current role. With a working knowledge of the sector you will be used to delivering to tight deadlines. You will handle information of a confidential nature and, on occasion, will be expected to represent the Chair and Chief Executive at meetings organised by government departments, agencies and/or the sector's employers.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and in attendance at both senior management and board meetings, this is an excellent opportunity to play a significant role in the early formation of an SSC that is at the core of the knowledge economy.
