“As well as the traditional museums and galleries, the sector includes a variety of other visitor attractions, such as stately homes, heritage centres, ancient monuments, zoological gardens, botanical and horticultural collections, industrial and craft premises. This sector is characterised by great diversity, both in type and size of operation but in the way they are funded - from central and local government to grants to project funding to earned income and usually a mixture of all these.
