Creative & Cultural Skills recommended for licence - 17/03/05Today Thursday 17 March 2005 Creative and Cultural Skills successfully completed the final stage in its licence assessment process and is now recommended for licence subject to contract and Secretary of State for Education and Skills' approval. Creative and Cultural Skills will now be moving into an exciting stage of development. Over the next few weeks, recruitment plans will be announced, engagement of employers in the sector developed and an innovative skills programme for our first full year of activity will get underway. Tony Hall, Chair of Creative and Cultural Skills said:
"This is a fantastic breakthrough. I want to pay tribute to all those who have been working on this for over three years. If it wasn't for all the hard work and perseverance of our employers, key partners and the staff who put the bid together, the Government's Licence Assessment Panel would not have been able to make such a positive decision today."
"I've said on many occasions creative and cultural industries are the future of our economy. This decision today and the Chancellor's announcement yesterday to review the support to our industries sets the scene for some exciting times ahead." Tom Bewick, Chief Executive of Creative and Cultural Skills said:
"I am delighted with today's decision. But I'm particularly proud of the staff of Creative and Cultural Skills and the organisations who have supported us in the past few months. Arts Council England, the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, stakeholders in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have all played a pivotal role in helping us get off the ground."
"Over the next few weeks, through the inspired leadership of our new Board we will begin putting our long-awaited plans into action!" AccessibilitySite mapContent disclaimer |
