Skills Chief visits Northern Ireland - 15/03/05Creative and Cultural Skills Chief Executive, Tom Bewick, was invited to Northern Ireland by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DECAL) today. Speaking at the Northern Ireland Cultural Forum attended by employers, government officials and chaired by Aideen McGinley OBE, Permanent Secretary of DECAL, Mr. Bewick said: "I'm delighted to be asked to address this important gathering at such an early stage in our development. I don't have to tell you how important the creative and cultural economy has been to the increased investment and regeneration Northern Ireland has recieved in recent years. With employment in the creative and cultural economy running at twice the rate of jobs growth elewhere this is a sector set to go from strength to strength. Our industries - through the employer leadership we can bring - are committed to working with you." Following the Forum Mr. Bewick and Ms. McGinley visited Northern Ireland's award winning Folk and Transport museum where both got the chance to experience a newly installed flight simulator.
